Ok I'll admit it, i'm a shameless flirt :)

This week has been funfilled to say the least! I was out on Wednesday touring the city with some family in town from overseas. Ok that wasn't the fun part, but during dinner I started thinking about plans for the night. It's wednesday, haven't been to the Phoenix in a while and I had a friend who lives nearby. Before I could get in touch with him, he messages me. We both now had plans for the night.

The Phoenix gets quite crowded on Wednesday nights, cheap beer and gay guys, what more could you want? It was just the two of us but it was great to catch up. There was one tall very handsome guy who seemed a bit lost. Maybe he was there by himself. Did his friends ditch him? Was he just looking to hookup? Anyway by the time my friend left the tall guy had company. I stuck around for a bit only to see the tall guy leave alone. The place was emptying out so I thought about heading over to Eastern Bloc, but I walked outside and it was raining, so i decided to call it quits and just went home.

On Thursday I got a text that said 'Splash 10.30?' When do I ever turn down an invite to Splash? There was a few guys already there and more on the way. We sat down at the bar, had some drinks, caught up, and then it was time to hit the dancefloor. Soon enough someone waltzed over and introduced himself. We danced a bit, got talking. I told him where I was from and he responds "Are you fucking with me?" And there was my cue. "No", I replied, "but i'd like to be". He bought me a drink, we went back to the dancefloor. Dancing we got closer and closer and then we kissed. And we kissed alot, right in the middle of the dancefloor. At one time I thought i spotted more of my friends there out of the corner of my eye but we were too busy. We decided to head downstairs where there were some couches for more of the same. Eventually I told I wished we were back at his place. He didn't need any convincing, he led the way outside into a waiting cab and back to his place we went. I won't bore you with all the sordid details from that night, suffice to say it was fun and I stayed till morning :).

The next day I had lunch plans with a friend who was visiting from the UK. He'd been here quite a few times while i've been here but we never managed to connect. Finally it looked like it was going to work. I took the subway to a place called Gascogne, a quaint french bistro in Chelsea. We had a nice time, he's a really nice guy, the food was good, the wine was good, and he was good company. After a couple hours we finished, said our goodbyes and went on our way. I took the subway home, having been gone close to 18 hours.

I've got so much more to write about. My weekend, Yom kippur, Mr Subway, but I figured I won't leave you hanging any more, i'll try to post more frequently and not have each post be thesis-length.

Have a great night, i've got a car and i'm going to enjoy the night.

Happy New Year #2

Came across this picture lol.

The last head of the year, and other titilating tales

The past few days have been quite busy, I spent Thursday in Manhattan. I was supposed to meet Mr Subway for lunch, but he was in a meeting that ran long, so we decided to push it off till next week. I ended up doing some shopping, and some celeb spotting. While near Rockerfeller I saw Andy Cohen (from Bravo) and I also spotted a guy whose blog I read - about a boy and his briefs, lol.

That night I had a joint birthday event to attend. A couple friends were celebrating at Vlada. I don't hang out there often, but clearly I should ;) Lots of friends, and new people of course. It was alot of fun but at one point I went out for some fresh air. I noticed a cute guy sitting on the steps outside having a beer and a cigarette. I bummed one off him and sat down. We got chatting, he moved to NYC 3 weeks ago from Boston, but is originally German. He had such a strong American accent up until that point I had no clue he was from another country. We chatted for a while and I popped back in to see what was going on upstairs. It was a drag show of some sort so I just headed back to my boy. We had another cig, he was living with a roommate in a studio. Anyway we chatted some more, he kept on telling me I was cute and probably meet alot of hot guys. He wasn't the only one telling me that, the bouncer did too, and the drag queen, and some random straight girl that was having a cigarette near us. Anyway we got another beer and since we weren't heading back to either of our places, we just made do with what privacy we could get, i.e. the bathroom stall. I won't go into much detail, i'll just say it was hot!. That is one german blood sausage I wouldn't mind having again ;) We did what we did, and then parted ways. I found the remains of the party, finished my beer and then everyone left. I went home a satisfied man. Being that Friday night began Rosh Hashana - literally the head of the year, it is only appropriate that on the previous night I got my last head of the year, lol.

Of course when you have a late night, you sleep in the next day. I got invited out to a couple Rosh Hashana dinners in Manhattan. There is a saying in Yiddish that one can't dance at two weddings simultaneously. Or in this case, one can't eat with the gays in 2 separate locations, so dinner with Mr Splash it was to be. I spent all afternoon running around, from Brooklyn to Manhattan, around Manhattan then back to Brooklyn, around Brooklyn, get ready and head back to Manhattan. I met my host at the synagogue but services already ended. I was going to go in when I saw someone I knew. FML. So I just hung around outside until he came out, but he was waiting for me inside becuase I told him i'd meet him at the synagogue. Eventually he came out and we headed off to his place. Of course the guests weren't expected just yet, so we just hung around, a friend of his was babysitting his baby.

It was a really nice meal, though gays run on their own schedule and come when they want. The food was great The company was interesting and fun. There was one couple, and a few singles. 3 of the guy had been married (to women) with kids and were now divorced. One of the guys was a total lech, and hits on me everytime he sees me and I turn him down. Of course the next time he sees me he does the same thing not remembering we went through this already. Probably because he's had a good few to drink every time we meet, lol. And lastly there was a younger guy, about a year older than me. And he was hot! And I recognized him from facebook, of course. At one point he said he was going outside for a cigarette and asked if anyone else smoked. My head was telling me 'say yes! say yes! and join him' but i didn't. And he went to smoke alone. I probably should have said yes, but oh well.

The food was fantastic, fish and salads and beef and turkey and chicken and sweet potato pie and kugel and potato pastries and cakes and i'm sure i'm forgetting something but it was really really good food! And lots of lots of wine (probably half of it being drunk by the guy I wasn't interested in). He offered me a ride back to Brooklyn - he was taking hot cigarette boy too. I said yes and all i'm gonna say is I'm glad i made it back alive.

Thats it for this post, happy new year to all my readers,
j

As the countdown begins, things just keep on getting better!

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing? While i've really enjoyed my time in NYC, things recently have started to get better than good. They've gotten really incredible. I've got so many things happening, doing things that only a short time ago I thought i'd never do. The last 5 days began off good and only got better!

It began with PhD's birthday. He was having a couple events for it over the weekend and I was invited. Of course given it was a facebook invite and that we'd seemed to disconnect a couple months back I wondered if I should bother attending. Did he really want me to come? I wished him a happy birthday and of course he asked if I was coming. I basically got told that I was acting stupid for thinking he didn't want me to come or that I thought he didn't want to be friends. That was kind of nice, yet weird. I'd actually tried time and time again and it just felt like a rebuff every single time, I gave up and wrote it off. Kimchi :)

Thursday night was the JQY meeting. This month The topic was the upcoming high holidays. Not the most exciting topic yet very relevant. It was quite a large crowd with a large number of new faces. Of course right in the meeting with gays I get a phone call about a girl my mother wants to set me up with, FML! There was one person at the meeting who often has these crazy stories and has the entire room laughing. Such as his time walking around the old city of Jerusalem tripping on acid. It was hilarious! After the meeting we all headed off to Candlebar (well most of us did anyway) for some drinks and social interaction, lol. I thought this was going to be my second last meeting but it turns out there is no meeting next month so this gonna be it. I got a ride back home from someone who drove in that night.

Friday was turning out to be a boring old Friday in Brooklyn. I usually prefer to head out for the shabbat somewhere but recently i've had a few weekends 'in'. This was looking to be one of those until about 20 mins before shabbat began. I was on facebook and i got a message from PhD. Do I want to come for shabbat dinner? I'd love to. The only problems was that He was in Manhattan and I in Brooklyn, I wasn't dressed or showered, it was pouring outside, and like I said about 20 mins before shabbat was to begin. But who cares :) I showered, dressed, grabbed a bottle of wine, my umbrella and headed out, hoping noone that knew me would see me getting into the subway. We had a really nice meal, with his roommate and a bunch of other friends. He really went all out and of course it was nice to get away. After dinner some people left and we decided to go out and have fun. Of course the locals changed into going out clothes and i was in my shabbat finest. Well not quite, but i wanted to go out so we did. First off was Therapy where we met up with a bunch of their friends for a drink or 3. Then time for rockit. It wasn't as great as my previous time there where I danced the night away. The people I was with seemed to be more interested in talking while holding a drink. But it was still a fun night and I got home at about 4am. Oh and there was this cute French boy on the subway who got off at my stop. He was with his bf though, and the conductor was out of his mind. This train is going local! This train is going express! He seriously changed him mind every 30 seconds.

Because of my late night I slept in Saturday morning, well afternoon ;) . I had a party to attend to in Astoria that night but I didn't make it in the end. But Sunday was a busy day. It started off with a housewarming on the UWS which was fun. All the usual friends and then some were there. This began the day of drinking. Had a really nice time and when the party started winding down it was time to head off to the next party, PhD's birthday in Central Park. This time I only knew a couple of the people - we'd met on Friday. And a couple others I recognized from facebook, one of which was also at the housewarming earlier that day. It was a beautiful day out and the park was full (Read full of hot guys with shirts off).

A couple hours there hanging out with his friends and a few screwdrivers later it was time for me to head off once again. This time it was a Bon Voyage party being held on Astor Place. I decided to walk through from Sheeps Meadow to the southeast corner of the park and catch the R. And it was good that I did. As we pulled into 34th St i noticed a very handsome guy on the subway platform. Probably in his late 30s or so. He got onto the same car as me, but sat further down and on the other side at about my 10 o'clock position. Of course I kept on looking at him, until he noticed me and I turned away. How do you keep your eyes on someone without being so obvious? I kept my head turned toward the end of the car, so I could steal glances at him. You probably think well so what? The fact is i'm sort of a shy guy and I don't do this kind of thing, ever. I think i may have given him a smile, i can't even remember.

I figured it'd probably just end up being nothing but a missed connection. My stop was 8th st, and it was coming up. I wasn't going to go up to him and start chatting with him. Then he stood up, his stop was my stop. So what happens now? I'm getting off here too. In the whole business of cruising which I know nothing about, does that mean I'm interested and am going with him? Anyway I was ahead of him up the stairs and I looked up to orientate myself and figure out where to go. The next thing I knew he was standing next to me, so I said hi. We exchanged names, he lived in the east village. We started walking and talking. I told him I had a party to attend to. He was on his way back from Fire Island (cherry grove). We parted ways after a block but not before we exchanged numbers.

I couldn't believe i'd just done that, very out of the norm for me. But it was fun and exciting and exhilarating. And we're having lunch tomorrow :)

It was onto the next party, with a London theme. Shepherds Pie, Pimms, very english. R was going away for school, i'm gonna miss him. In fact i'm going to miss all my new york friends and i have no idea when i'll be back next. That pretty much sucks because things are going fairly well here. I've enjoyed the freedom to do what I want and just be myself. And then there's Mr Southern Boy, Mr Fire Island, Mr Subway, and the guy I met online a while ago through a friend from back home who informed me last night that he's ready for a husband and i'm at the top of his list. (Un?)fortunately I seem to be on top of everyone's list.

Time to head off,
jay

Fire Island Labor Day. Yeah baby!

Summer was coming to an end and everyone had been telling me I must visit fire island. I always intended to at some point, but time had been passing by and I was yet to visit. I went to Argentina for a week (more on that in the next post hopefully) and I wasn't sure I was going to make it, until suddenly an opportunity came up. I wanted to go to the beach over the Labor Day long weekend and I started chatting with a friend. What was she doing for the weekend? She was thinking of the beach with some friends, either Jones beach or Fire Island. Jones Beach vs Fire Island? Is that even a question?! I insisted on Fire Island and the winner was... fire island! For people that don't know, here are some pics from the Pines on Fire Island to give you an idea of what it's like and why it's a gay paradise.

The beach with houses right on the sand

Good looking guys everywhere wearing as little clothing as they can get away with

No real roads on the island, everything is wooden boardwalk like paths like this

Now I needed to get ready, what the wear, what to bring. It's fire island after all, I needed to make a statement! Well so much for that. I brought my hot new swim shorts from Ben Sherman, my ben sherman cap, a pair of linen shorts and a polo shirt, and some snacks for the day. And I was ready to go! I was meeting everyone at Jamaica station. They were coming in from Manhattan or Queens and I from Brooklyn. We met up on the train to Montauk, and once you get on it you can tell yep this train is heading towards fire island. So many cute gay guys :)

We got to Sayvile, and all the gays get off onto waiting taxis and buses heading to the ferry. You can tell who is a little green behind the ears because they didn't get the fire island package and chose to pay extra buying everything separately (yeah, me). It's funny who you run into getting to and from fire island as well as on the island itself. I ran into people I knew in line to get on the ferry (as well as spotting people I knew from fb while on FI, and on the way back - one in particular I wish I'd said hi to). We wanted to ride upstairs but it was full by the time we got on. And there was one older gay guy on the boat that shouldn't have been allowed in public with what he was wearing, i kid you not. About half an hour or so later we arrived. We get off the boat and some of the girls and guys decided the first thing they needed was coffee. That's right Starbucks at the Bay Bar so we just grabbed a table while waiting for them and enjoyed the scenery :)

Once they were done we finally headed towards the beach. Down FI Blvd and Widgeon Walk and eventually made to it to the beach. On the way a siren went off a few times. There was either a fire or someone was getting laid! It really was a fun day and a great mix of people. One of the girls I dubbed 'the bitch'. Of course she hadn't met me yet, and I shot her down every time. Absolutely loved doing that. I'm the king of bitches if you didn't know already. We got to the beach, took over our own little patch of sand and settled in. The wind was crazy out there but the sun was out so we tried to make do. At times it felt like a mini sandstorm. Sand blowing everywhere, it was hard to read, hard to eat, hard to lie down and get a tan. I set up a bag next to my head as a wind and sand blocker and got to work tanning.

Some played volleyball. Well they tried to anyway, Of course the ball flew off course just about every single shot and hit random people sitting nearby. With sand flying everywhere it probably wasn't the best place to be trying to read a copy of Vogue. Even if it was the September issue with 564 pages of fabulousness! Though it did include a foldout ad for GAP, with 4 of the 6 guys in it were totally gorgeous, and totally doable. Some of us went into the water a bit, the waves were huge. It would've been great to surf in though. After a good few hours, with a couple of the girls already gone in search of food and drink, we decided on a beach break for some food. We met them at the Blue Whale, and it was packed. Waiting for a table for 8 wasn't an easy task so we sat down and got some drinks instead while waiting. The bitch already had her table and food but no silverware, haha. I guess her reputation preceeded her.

We got our table and nothing too exciting was on the menu, so I chose to have a liquid lunch instead. Vodka, vodka and vodka. Of course the cute barman sealed the deal. Anyway lots of talking, checking out the hot guys, shaking out the sand from Vogue, eating and drinking. We met a friend who ended up on FI only for his friends to decide they weren't gonna come, so he joined us. The blue whale emptied out a bit so we moved tables to get some sun before we decided our next move. A walk along FI Blvd towards cherry grove.

Walking along the boardwalks it turned out that someone had been left behind at the restaurant. The main group stopped, but a couple of girls were ahead walking arm in arm with a random guy they met and didn't hear them being told to wait. As the people at the back caught up suddenly one of the girls came running back. "Where are you guys? Epic houseparty and we're crashing!" Sounded great to me and Abe and I led the way with this girl. Some were concerned about crashing a private party, but this is fire island, and i'm sure we're not the only ones crashing! First things first. Put down my bags in a corner. Then get a drink and mingle. There were pictures of Elizabeth Taylor all around and sparkly shit hanging through the doorway to the pool outside. I guess it might have been a White Diamonds themed party?!

Here are some pictures I found online of the party. They're from Tony, a fellow blogger. His blog is Farmboyz and all rights are reserved by him.

In one of the pics you can actually see one of the guys I was there with. His face is covered but I could tell it was him :) Anyway so we're just mingling, went out to the pool chatted with some guys. We got chatting to one guy and girl in particular. In no time he had his hand around my waist. I guess he liked me :) As much as I would've liked to stay at the party and have fun meet more people, he was leaving with his posse, and so was I. I grabbed my stuff, told my friends not to wait for me and headed off to his place.

And BTW I walked out of the party wearing a long dangly earring, just like the guy on the right in the above picture. I had arrived! lol ;)

Now I know what you're thinking. I was now back at his place. And maybe we did what you think we did, but I will be quite vague in this post. We headed back to his place with a girl he met. We had a drink as we sat around the pool and talked with music playing in the background. He had a cigarette, I met the people that were also renting the place. An interesting lot of people they were. We lazed about outside and on the couch until it was time to go to bed. Well it wasn't 'time to go to bed' but we decided to hit the sack. Oh, and we got no sleep ;) . A few hours later we decided to get up and head out. We checked out tea, I think. I dunno whether it was low tea, high tea, middle tea, earl grey tea. Whatever it was. There was music, alcohol and many many gay guys dancing the night away. From there we went to get some pizza. Well we tried to get pizza but we had to waaaaaaaaait in line. Pizza was being made, but it was coming out too slowly and the gays were hungry! We got our food, ate, and went back to his place. It wasn't late, but we had plans for something else. This time we actually did get some sleep, as well as some things you can do in bed awake.

We didn't get out of bed till after 12, it was great just lying there next to him. Everyone else was awake, some even up early watching TV at 7am. He was going on a business trip the next day so we got ready and took the ferry back in the early afternoon. This time we were upstairs, it was great with the wind in my hair and the sun beating down on us. Who did I spot on the ferry, but a guy I spotted on the Island the day before. I knew him from facebook but he didn't recognize me. We'd chatted on and off and i'd even blogged about him. We'd never actually met in person but he'd moved from originally wanting to hook up, to deciding he wasn't into random hookups anymore and would rather meet for some pinkberry and from there to unfriending me on facebook. Dunno what his deal is but I wish I would've said hi at the time, especially since he was right behind me as we got off the ferry and followed us to the parking lot.

Anyway, the guy gave me a ride back home, he lives in Queens so not too far from me. We've chatted a bit since then, by text, by email. He's already asked me if i'm available the weekend after next. I don't have any major plans for the weekend, but lets see if it actually eventuates. I've learnt my lesson more than once not to get my hopes up too quickly. Who knows if i'll see either of the guys i've met in the past few weeks again.

It's almost 4.30am and I have a busy day tomorrow. A housewarming, followed by a birthday party, followed by a going away party for a friend. So i'm going to call it a night, I hope this post wasn't too rushed.

I'm back!!!

Just a quick post to let you all know that i'm back in NY. I'm working on a post about my trip to Buenos Aires, but it might take a bit of time till it's finished. I'm heading out to central park right now, and going to Fire Island tomorrow which i'm very excited about! So catch ya all later,

Jay
